Morning ladies, so with rising heating & living costs, today I thought we'd talk warmth & ways of keeping warm, whilst trying not to turn the heating up.
Starting with a firm favourite of mine - fingerless gloves. Not only are these perfect for wearing when out & about & needing access to your phone's screen etc, they're also ideal for wearing in the house as an additional layer to keep both your hands & wrists warm & provide some much added warmth.
I've long been a fan of a thermal top come this time of year & yes they really do provide additional heat. Remember to tuck them into your trousers/skirt or tights to keep your back nice & warm & if really cold then layer up & add a thermal vest style top underneath a long sleeved one.
Another favourite of mine is thermal tights & a great way to ensure you can get maximum usage out of your favourite maxi skirts/dresses come this time of year. Plus you could even wear them under a loose fitting pair of jeans/trousers.
Of course a scarf doesn't necessarily have to just been worn with a coat outside. My Grandma was a firm believer in wearing a scarf (not to mention a hat) inside if you were suffering with a cold or to keep the chill at bay. For me if the pennies allow then the ultimate has to be an oversized cashmere scarf like the one above. I don't know about you but whenever I remove a scarf at the end the day I'm always surprised at just how quickly my neck becomes cold.
Or if you get frustrated with dangling ends of a scarf then a snood would make a great alternative & be sure to keep you toasty.
Then to keep you feet just as warm - slipper boots like these sheepskin ones are ideal & can either be worn barefoot or if additional heat is required with a pair of socks, again the added of luxury of cashmere are my preference when the pennies allow.
Then when sitting still, whether that be for work or play consider investing in a wool blend shawl to throw over your shoulders to help keep the draught at bay.
Plus warm cosy socks tucked into leggings/skinny jeans will keep your feet nice & warm this winter.
Now I've long been a fan of the comfort & warmth of a hot water bottle, a fact that hubby with testify on the many occasion he's come home to me resembling a beached whale & 'rocking' the 'flattering' trend of a hot water bottle tucked into my waistband!
In the past I've used the traditional rubber variety but am considering in invested in the above version having read great reviews. The fact that it can keep warm for up to 24 hours & even be heated on a stove means it will soon earn it's keep, as opposed to the numerous times a day I boil the kettle to heat the traditional version & of course there's less chance of leaks/splits occurring.
Finally add to your hot water bottle mix a cuddly soft faux throw when sitting down & you should be nice & toasty but be warned you'll feel the chill when you get up!
Back to today & it's all about the classic, simple style.
