Midlife Loves

Golden Delights!

So you may recall in a recent post that having kept the gold ballet shoes from the Massimo Dutti sale (see here) oh & the gold sneakers from Zara (click here) that I mentioned that there may well be a new obsession starting.  Well a week on & I can now report that my love of all things gold is well & truly underway!

So when I saw these beauties on the Zara site, I just knew I had to hit the 'buy me' button & investigate further.

Now I have to admit twelve months ago I wouldn't have even given these boots a second glance.  Which means I'm simply going to have to blame it on the thought of the impending big four-0 & the unconscious worry that I need to wear these different styles before quite simply I'm past it!  And on that justification with just over five months to go to the big day then I reckon the next five months could be pretty interesting!!!!

So having been given full approval from hubby & an 'they're okay' from our son (much better than the anticipated rolling of the eyes I envisaged) I have now sprayed these 'disco boots' with leather protector & said boots are now sitting pretty in my wardrobe waiting for their first outing.

Because of their bling-ability I'm thinking they'll look best dressed down - boyfriend jeans, casual top & of course the obligatory jacket but as my confidence grows & I get used to the bright sun rays radiating from my feet who knows what I'll team them with!

Moving on but keeping with the gold theme my Mango sales order has now arrived (although the jacket I'd fallen in love with was faulty on arrival but luckily is still available in my size & now with an additional £5 off :) - result!) & with it this gold sequinned number.  Which has somehow slipped into my wardrobe all of it's own accord!  It's even prettier in the flesh than the picture, the most stunning shade of gold & is a cross between a smart cardigan/casual jacket & is reduced from it's original price of £44.99.

It's one of those pieces that I just know I'm going to find 'useful'!  It's going to look fab worn with wax effect jeans and a little top with heels but likewise is going to look great with boyfriend jeans & a casual t-shirt.   I'm also going to try it with a simple white vest top and white maxi for on those cooler summer days/nights, especially when my skin is tanned although in the absence of the real thing I reckon it will help give a bit of radiance to my skin tone from the sequins & gold thread.

Hell I may even throw caution to the wind & try it with my new gold boots!

Or if you prefer a cool tone against your skin they also do the same cardigan in silver, which would also look stunning teamed with white & light denim not to mention navy & black.

Walking away from all things sparkly & golden here's what I've been wearing since Sunday.

So there you have it my latest obsession.  What do you think?  Do you reckon I've completely lost the plot with regard to the gold boots or like me have you fallen head over heels in love?

Goodness knows where this gold loving journey will take me but what I can promise is that it won't become totally obsessive & I PROMISE not to sneak a purchase of gold body paint & try rocking the look of one of the Bond girls from Goldfinger!!!!

Have a good few days, rumour has it that the weather is on the up so enjoy.  And if the sun does start shining I promise it is the sun & not me wearing my new boots that's causing the glare! x

  1. All that glitters IS gold to me so I'm totally with you when it comes to all things golden - love the boots and that Mango cardigan is gorgeous. I'm still after some gold ballets (think I have four pairs of gold sandals so moving on mentally to AW13 already...). Lynne x

    1. Thanks Natalie, it's good to know I'm not alone on this gold obsession! Thinking first outing of boots may have to wait a couple of weeks due to this heatwave that's been forecast although of course there's always gold sandals :) x
