New In To Store & WIWT

Morning ladies well we may feel as if we've only had a glimse of summer but one thing for sure new stock is flying into store & despite the fact we're off to sunnier (& hopefully hotter climates) in a few days I can't help but start get excited for AW16 when I see all the new delights.

Needless to say there's lots to get tempted by but here are my top picks this week, all of which could really be worn all year round.  Lace camis worn with a tuxedo suit for nights out or festive events come Autumn/Winter or even paired with a simple pair of jeans & statement heels while the sun shines.

Then of course culottes worn with trainers for day, long ankle boots for Autumn or a court shoe for evening.  Plus they're so easy to layer up with a polo neck & biker come the colder months or paired with a simple tee while we can.  Likewise with the dresses I've featured.

However, my top buy would have to be the white & black lace tops.  I bought a similar white one from Mint Velvet last year & found it so useful on our return from holidays, so much so that I'm tempted to order the black one below.  Throw on with boyfriend jeans for day, team with leather leggings or cigarette pants for a smarter look or even pair with an 'A' line skirt - lots & lots of possibilities.

Here's my edit this week (just click on image for more details!).

Back to today & I'm keeping it really simple with an old embroidered dress from Mango.

My Midlife Fashion, H&M Panama Hat, Mango embroidered shift dress, next tan block heel sandals

Hat - H&M
Dress - Mango
Sandals - Next

Summer Boho, my midlife fashion, shop my style, j crew panama hat, asos knitted swing dress with embroidered detail, steve madden kitty tie up sandals

Hat - J Crew £58
Dress - ASOS £40
Sandals - Steve Madden £59

So ladies do you see anything to take your fancy?  Like I said above I'm very tempted by the lace tops, as well as the ruffle dress, not to mention the stunning & timeless LBD & that's before I even mention the gorgeous navy biker jacket!  Temptations, temptations.......anyone going to click that button?!!  Don't forget the Nordstrom sale is still in full flow & if you haven't taken a peek already you can see my top picks here.

Have a lovely day & I'll be back bright & early in the morning.

Some New Purchases & WIWT

Happy Saturday ladies.

Before I show you what I'm wearing today I've got a few new purchases to share with you.  First off for those of you who follow me on Instagram you may recall this outfit I posted last week when we were off out for our son's celebratory birthday meal.

My Midlife Fashion, marks and spencer super cropped wide leg trousers, french collection frilled sleeve top, embroidered clutch, topshop venus stud sandals

Top - French Connection
Bag - Mango
Culottes - Marks & Spencer
Sandals - Venus £52

And the eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted I was wearing some new culottes - these babies below, which were love at first sight.  Super wide, fitted on the hip with pockets & a lovely crepe fabric.  Perfect for late summer but I'm also planning on wearing these in the Autumn teamed with a simple crew neck, trainers & biker & Winter with block heel ankle boots.  But be warned although they're described as cropped I'm wearing the shorter length version & I'm 5'7"!

Marks and Spencer Crepe Super Cropped Wide Leg Culottes

Talking of Marks & Spencer I've not been totally convinced that the loafer trend was for me but when I spotted these at such a fab price I thought they were worth a shot & I can't tell you how comfortable & gorgeous they are.  A real steal at the price & I'm hoping that with pop socks they'll also be ok for Autumn/Winter.  Plus with Marks' insolia flex they're incredibly comfy & less bulky looking than the loafer shoe.  If you're tempted I'd definitely recommend clicking the button sooner rather than later as I'm convinced they're not going to hang around......I'm just hoping they'll also introduce some more colours.

Marks and Spencer Snaffle Trim mule sandals

Now we all know I love a pleat or frill & with both set to still be big next season I just couldn't resist this pretty shirt.  I just love the detailing, it falls lovely & will be so easy to style with jeans, paired back jewellery & statement shoes/boots that there was no way this wasn't coming home with me.

Topshop Pleat Bib Long Sleeve Shirt

Finally I'd featured this shirt on a previous post & felt the urge to investigate & again its a keeper.  Love the star print, the weight of the fabric is just right plus it will fit perfectly into my winter wardrobe (it looks much nicer on than it does below).

Mango star printed shirt

Back to today & I'm going for another monochrome look & wearing my new culottes with my polka dot lace cami teamed with a boucle stripe jacket.

My Midlife Fashion, Monochrome, stripe, boucle jacket, mango lace trim polka dot camisole, marks and spencer super cropped wide legged culottes, steve madden glitter sandals, harry rocks entwined initials pendant

Jacket - Mango
Camisole - Mango
Culottes - Marks & Spencer
Sandals - Steve Madden

Monochrome - Styling Up Culottes, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Marks and spencer wedge heel cross over sandals, mango lace trim polka dot camisole, mango jacquard cotton jacket, marks and spencer super cropped wide culottes

Jacket - Mango £49.99
Camisole - Mango £19.99
Culottes - Marks & Spencer

So the first week of no karate has instead been replaced with a full on day of lists to complete before we go away with the hopeful reward this evening of dinner out & seeing the new Bourne movie (if we get our jobs completed!).

Anyone up to anything special today or are you just enjoying the fact that normal term time activities have ceased?

A quick heads up on a great discount code Cloggs have got 20% off everything including brands such as Hudson, Ash Footwear & Steve Madden plus there's 20% all sales items too!  Simply click here & use code TREAT20 at checkout.

I'll be back in the morning.

Holiday Inspiration Part 2 & WIWT All Blue

Morning ladies so as promised here's part two of my holiday inspiration post (you can see part 1 here).

So along with swimwear & holiday cover ups another couple of essentials are the all important beach bag - which depending if you have a young/large family you'll need something that can hold the kitchen sink or have older children/holidaying as a couple you can get away with something smaller.  Although I don't know about you but I always find it surprising how much you need to take with just the basics - suncream, sunglasses, kindle, phone etc, etc.

In my view you're never going to go wrong with either a straw bag or canvas tote, with the latter proving easier to pack.  I always sway from a brightly coloured embroidered tote before we leave to yearning for another straw basket when I spot all the beauties in the shops at our resort.  So just to tempt you & me further here's my edit of the best on the high street at the moment.

Beach Bag Inspiration, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, john lewis weekend collection Straw stripe screen print bag, john lewis weekend collection raffia tote bag, mango embroidered shopper, coco bay boho bag, john lewis canvas tote, mango jute shopper, marks and spencer per una embroidered shopper, accessorize egypt print tote, john lewis weekend collection stripe tote, cocobay maya bag

Another 'must have' is the all important sun hat for both protecting our faces from the heat of the midday sun to throwing on & hiding sweat drenched/sea salt/wind swept hair.  Is it just me but everyone else on holiday seems to nail casual hair by the pool but mine just ends up looking a mess!  Personally I love a panama - classic & stylish that will add a certain something to any outfit but I'm also seeing the benefit of these visors too.  Especially if like me you enjoy ploughing through several books on holiday as there's nothing more annoying than trying to wear a large brimmed hat whilst reclining on your sunlounger & finding you can't get confortable due to the back of the brim bending over.

Sun Hats, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Accessorize pom pom metallic trilby, marks and spencer textured visor, j crew panama, coco bay white tobago hat, coco bay pia rossini tobago hat, john lewis fat face zig zag floppy sun hat, mango contrast ribbon hat, mango straw hat

Back to today & I've got that holiday vibe kind of feeling so I'm going for an all blue theme with this old bardot stripe top & a straw fedora.

My Midlife Fashion, Harry Rocks Entwined Initials Pendant, zara stripe bardot top, distressed turned up boyfriend jeans, cocobay seafolly straw fedora, massimo dutti gold metallic ballet pumps

Top - Zara
Necklace - Harry Rocks
Jeans - Zara
Ballet Pumps - Massimo Dutti

All Blue, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Mango straw sun hat, john lewis carvella woven ballet pumps, jigsaw portobello turned up jeans, monsoon carmen off the shoulder top

Top - Monsoon £49
Jeans - Jigsaw £89
Shoes - Carvela £85

So what are your thoughts ladies?  Anyone in the market for a new beach bag this year or have a preference for which type of sun hat is best?  Perhaps you've found a way to deal with holiday daytime hair that you can share or indeed the brim of your hat when reclining on your sunlounger reading....as always I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Seeing as we've only got a week until we're off to sunnier climates I better start thinking about what to take!

Enjoy your day & I'll be back in the morning.

A Fab Discount Code + WIWT - Lace & Denim

Morning ladies.  So before I show you what I'm wearing, I've got a fantastic discount code to share.

I've recently been contacted by REN Skincare & have been trialling a couple of their products - the Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist & a new product which launches in September called Flash Hydro-Boost.

Now for anyone who is unaware of the brand or has yet to give them a try REN Skincare was formed 15 years ago & uses only 100% plant & mineral derived actives in all its products.  With a range designed to offer ground breaking product formulation teamed with the latest hi-tech actives that offers clinically proved results following rigorous product testing.

And Flash Hydro-Boost

My Midlife Fashion, Ren Skincare, Ren skincare flash defence anti-pollution mist, REn skincare flash hydro-boost

The Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist is a fine mist that can be used over your make up & re-applied throughtout the day, designed to 'shield & protect the skin from ageing effects of environmental pollution & harmful free radicals'.  It works by forming a non-sticky barrier over your skin to reduce the damaging effects from the environment, which will instantly protect & with regular use help to reduce the premature ageing effect of environmental pollution.  I've been using the product for a couple of weeks & love the fact that I can't feel the product on my skin & find it really refreshing to regularly spray the product over my face & neck during the course of the day.  So much so that I think it will be a perfect way of feeling fresh faced when we're on holiday so is definitely coming away with us.

The second product - Flash Hydro-Boost has the most amazing smell without being too heavily scented & is designed to instantly plump the skin & over time will protect the skin from the ageing effects of dehydration by reducing fine line & preventing water loss from the skin.  This product is massaged into the skin after cleansing & is used daily prior to moisturising.  Again I'm really liking the product (I've only been using it for a week so it's too early to see any real results) but I shall definitely continue with it as any product that promises to plump, smooth & hydrate my skin can only be a good thing.

Now as I mentioned earlier I've got a fantastic discount code to share with you that can be used across REN Skincare's entire range.  Simply use the code BLOG20 here to get 20% off everything!

Back to today & I'm taking a few hours off work later for a lazy afternoon tea with the girls for bubbles, cake & a catch up before we all go away on our various summer holidays.  We're incredibly lucky to all live in the same village & also have a wonderful tea room in the next village that makes the most amazing afternoon tea, so as there's going to be bubbles involved we're walking to the tearoom - luckily it's only around a mile away but still I'm going with flats & a casual look to avoid any potential sore feet or falling over ;-)

My Midlife Fashion, Zara lace blouse, zara distressed cigarette length jeans, ash footwear monoi studded sandals, hipanema bracelet

Top - Zara
Bracelet - Hipanema
Jeans - Zara
Sandals - Ash

Lace & Denim, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Jigsaw portobello turned up jeans, topshop venus stud sandals, fat face harlyn crochet cover up

Jeans - Jigsaw £89
Sandals - Topshop £52

So has anyone used any REN Skincare in the past?  If so I'd love to hear which products you recommend.  Don't forget you can get 20% off all REN skincare here by using code BLOG20 at checkout.

Have a great day & I'll be back in the morning.

Taking A Look At The Nordstrom Sale & WIWT

Happy Sunday ladies.

Today I thought we'd take a peek at the Nordstrom sale, America's biggest sale that has just launched this weekend.  What I hadn't realised was that not only do they stock a lot of the brands we all love (Topshop, Charlotte Tilbury, French Connection, Monica Vinader to name just a few) they also ship worldwide including the UK.....how did I not know this?!!!

Obviously as soon as I discovered this nugget I scheduled a bit of me time to go virtual shopping & thought today I'd share with you my top picks (just click on the image for further details & to see the reductions).

As you can see most of my picks are perfect for carrying us through to the coming season,  meaning not only can we enjoy a bargain we can 'justify' our purchases in the full knowledge that there's going to be getting a lot of wear over the next few months ;-)

Back to today & I'm keeping it very simple & teaming my stripe midi dress with a classic double breasted blazer then adding trainers to give the look more of a casual vibe.

My Midlife Fashion, Marks and Spencer limited collection double breasted jacket, zara midi stripe dress, hipanema tahiti bracelet, golden goose trainers

Some Fabulous Sales Finds & WIWT

Morning ladies, you may recall a while I ago I shared with you my top picks from Baukjen's SS16 collection (see here) & mentioned that they were a great brand for shopping the sales due to all their pieces being so timeless.  So today I wanted to share with you my edit from their sale, as with up to 60% off it's the perfect time to treat yourself & perhaps upgrade some items currently hanging in your wardrobe.

Sales Edit. Sales Picks, My Midlife Fashion, Baukjen, everyday leather biker jacket. lea print dress. lea print shirt, Alesia wide leg culottes, nadinw chambray shirt, alesa midi dress, lena jumper, roewood print jumpsuit, roewood long line shirt

I could have included so many more pieces in my edit so if you like brand, or have been tempted to give them a try I'd certainly recommend you take a peek at their sale here.

Back to today & I'm wearing a beautiful dress that I've been kindly sent by Baukjen that's also in the sale but be warned it's now down to limited sizes, although they have similar sales dresses here & here.

Size wise I went up a size to a 10 as I didn't want the fabric to feel too restricted or too clingy & whilst it's slightly big on the neckline it means that the one sleeve falls slightly off my shoulder to give the dress a slightly less dressier feel - which I just love & as you know I'm quite partial to an off the shoulder jumper so this makes it perfect & to easier to dress down :-)

If you like this style of dress but worry about it drawing attention to the one area most of us wish was a little tighter, firmer & more toned (our tums!) then don't be as the skirt half of the dress has gorgeous ruching which distracts any unwanted attention as well as the pattern being the perfect Bet-tastic camouflage too.  Depending on preference you can also alter the length as the dress is a midi length if I pull it straight down or can be shortened by ruched more of the fabric across the hips.

Belt - Zara
Bracelets - Handmade
Denim Jacket - Zara
Sandals - Steve Madden

Summer Dress, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Mango Pointed toe flat shoes, baukjen sydney print dress, baukken wrap belt. mango violeta medium denim jacket

BeltBaukjen £69
Denim JacketMango £49.99
SandalsMango £19.99

So has anyone shopped the Baukjen sale yet?  If so I'd love to hear what got you 'clicking that button'. Talking of sales the Nordstrom sale starts today, which is always has some amazing pieces & with worldwide shipping it means we can all take advantage :-)  I'm hoping to get some time later today to take a peek but in the meantime you can grab yourself a bargain here.

A busy day for me as I have a couple of meetings, lunch out with my son (who has got the day off work :-) ) then this evening we have family over for dinner to continue our son's birthday celebrations.

Have a lovely Friday & I'll be back in the morning.

WIWT - Broderie, Lace & Another Sales Buy

Morning ladies it's my 'baby's' 17th birthday today so an early start for us with the traditional birthday canon wake up call, which scattered a mountain of brightly coloured tissue paper across the room.  Followed by a quick birthday breakfast & opening of pressies before he had to dash off to catch his train to work - where have the years gone?!!

So in celebration of me being a very proud mummy for 17 years I thought it perfect timing to break out a sales purchase from Hush that I'd been trying to resist all season & just couldn't resist any longer!

My Midlife Fashion, Harry Rocks Entwined initials pendant, mango broderie camisole, hush knitted jacket, zara distressed turned up boyfriend jeans, golden goose trainers

Jacket - Hush
Necklace - Harry Rocks
Top - Mango

So birthday celebrations continue this evening as we're meeting from work in Birmingham for pre-dinner cocktails before a meal out.  Then of course it's the start of the dreaded driving lessons & worrying when they've passed their test & are out on their own....no doubt a few more grey hairs will be appearing when we're at that stage ;-)

Enjoy your Thursday & I'll see you in the morning.

Holiday Inspiration Part 1 & WIWT Stripes & Ruffles

Morning ladies, if like me you're well & truly on the countdown to your holidays (2 weeks & counting!!) your mind has no doubt started to think about what to pack.  As like previous years I plan on covering what I'm taking together with sharing my daily outfits whilst we're away but in the meantime I thought it would be useful to look at the one item of clothing you wear the most whilst holidaying in sunnier climates.  Yup I'm talking swimwear, a word that most of us women dread in terms of the thought of wearing so little clothing in front of others.

For most of us I don't think it's ever going to be an item of clothing we're going to feel 100% comfortable in especially those first few days when out bodies feel whiter than white but invest in good quality & timeless classic pieces & it's definitely going to help.  Plus if you love what you're wearing & have confidence that it's not going to slip/move & holds you in where you need it then it's a great start to feeling body confident.  Factor in a cheeky cocktail by the pool & you'll be good to go ;-)

Here's just a selection of the swimwear that's currently catching my eye - from one pieces to bikinis.   I'd advise investing in classic stylish styles that can come out year after year & personally for me I don't think you can go wrong with plain swimwear.  As I prefer to alter my look through accessories & of course it's much easier to disguise if someone else just so happens to be wearing the same costume/bikini if it's plain.

Timeless Swimwear, My Midlife Fashion, Marks and spencer halterneck swimsuit, j crew one shoulder swimsuit, boden crochet trim bikini top, boden crochet trim bottoms, j crew ruched swimsuit, marks and spencer secret slimming twisted front swimsuit, boden scallop bikini top, boden scallop bikini bottoms, marks and spencer twist flat front suit suit, coco bay sea folly kiara busiter bikini top, coco bay sea folly pleated hipster bikini bottom, coco bay wild glam swimsuit, j crew ruched halter neck swimsuit, cocobay seafolly kiera bustier bandeau bikini top, coco bay seafolly twist band hipster bikini bottoms, j crew scalloped v neck swimsuit

Then moving onto beach cover ups & kaftans.  Again it's best to keep them simple & timeless & lets face it you're never going to go wrong with whites or blacks with some lace/broderie/embroidery detailing.

Beach Cover Ups, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Next cut out embroidered kaftan, coco bay embroidered white kaftan, marks and spencer embroidered kaftan, hush smocked kaftan, coco bay white cut out kaftan, topshop crochet trim sundress, topshop oversized beach shirt, coco bay aztec kaftan

Back to today & I'm bringing out a new purchase that I just couldn't resist.  Sometimes the simplest of outfits are all in the detail aren't they & I don't seem to be able to resist a frill or two at the moment!

Blouse - Topshop
Belt - The White Company
Jeans - Zara
Sandals - Marks & Spencer

Frills & Stripes, My Midlife fashion, shop my style, topshop stripe ruffle blouse, l k bennett thea bow detail pumps, jigsaw portobello turn up jeans

Blouse - Topshop £30
Jeans - Jigsaw £89
Ballet Pumps - L K Bennett £135

So ladies what's your thoughts on swimwear?  Do you see anything to tempt you?  Or are you totally ready & on the countdown till you can break out your new or tried & tested faithfuls?  I can certainly vouch for the quality of the pieces from Coco Bay, a brand I was lucky enough to work with last year & who have kindly sent me some new pieces for our summer holidays this year that I can't wait to wear (see here).  In fact if you're still needing a few summer pieces the discount code of MID20 is still valid on all orders on their website so if you are tempted, now's a great time to give them a try & make a great saving.

Have a lovely day & I'll see you tomorrow.
